Dog Behavioural Training
Some dogs can develop behavioural problems, such as aggression, excessive barking, destructive behaviour, inappropriate toileting, self-mutilation, anxiety, and fear. These anti-social behaviours can be difficult for owners and their families, and more importantly, can be a sign that your dog is distressed.
The good news is that we can work with you and your dog to eliminate specific behavioural problems and help you to achieve a more contented and stress-free life together. We have over 20 years of experience working with and training dogs, and we can help with a wide range of behavioural issues in dogs including:
Aggression towards other dogs
Aggression towards people
Excessive barking or another inappropriate vocal behaviour
Toileting in the home
Anxiety & fear
How our dog behavioural training programme works
We start with a phone call to discuss your dog's specific behavioural issues and your goals for the training. This is followed by a questionnaire, which helps us to understand more about your dog's personality, behaviour, health and the improvements that you would like to see in your dog's behaviour.
Then, we arrange to meet you and your dog for a two-hour assessment. This can take place in your home, in a local park, or you can come to our daycare centre. The assessment helps us to understand more about you and your dog and to start to break down the issues and identify what is causing your dog's unwanted behaviour. We will then start to work with you to develop workable strategies to overcome the causes and eliminate the behaviour.
During this session, you will start to learn how to manage your dog's behaviour, and we will give you 'homework' to do with your dog between this training session and the next.
We will meet you and your dog, plus any family members who wish to join us, for a further three one-hour training sessions, during which we will work with you and your dog to further develop and reinforce the solutions that will help you to achieve your goals, and for your dog to be happier and stress-free.
